Delicate Waffle

My first and current business venture (till in the preliminary stage). I am selling art under the name delicate waffle with a mascot named Waf. He started from mural I painted in my music room when I was working hard to become a musician, master of all instruments. All my hopes and dreams were in that room. I had to one day continue them for Waf who was trapped down there and my own sake. He has escaped his rock where the background filled in behind him with impending doom. Despite it all, he looked up and dreamed about the future and the impossible.

I am creating works that fit the theme and creative direction that I developed over time that fits my current artistic desire. I want to explore the double meaning of the word “delicate”. As someone who has struggled with health issues all my life that require me to be very decisive and responsible in how I live, I was always referred to as a delicate flower. In need of a lot of care and gentle treatment. At the same time, being a previous baker and possessing the obsession with food-themed ANYTHING, I named my shop after waffles. (Although I do like pancakes way better). I am using various art media and techniques: painting, ink work, photography, and various dry media like colored pencils and sharpies. Sweet imaginings focuses on work that expresses “delicate” in its most straight forward sense. These artworks are ones that highlight the intricacies, the fine details, the soft and sweet pieces of life. I am including influences from nature, vintage illustration, joy, beauty, sensitivity and peace.

Harsh Crumbs

Harsh Crumbs is where things go left. What is thought of as delicate, may not be what you think it is. Works under this section explore the meaning of delicate in its most negative connotation as well as the resulting effects. I incorporate ideas from personal experience, other experiences, the state of the world, how easily delicate situations can turn sour and offend in addition to the results of mishandling of delicate things. Waf is overcooked, brunt and fearful.

The Two Shot

Yes the two shot from camera shots. Defined as “a type of shot in which the frame encompasses two people. The subjects do not have to be next to each other, and there are many common two shots which have one subject in the foreground and the other subject in the background. . . Common variations include two people in profile, one person in profile and the other 3/4 or full towards camera, two people looking towards camera either side by side or with one behind the other, one person with their back to the other while the other looks at them, either profile, 3/4, or full face, or the mirror two shot. ” (from wiki). I named my photography collection after this purely because I strongly feel that looking at photos and taking photos require two parties: the camera man and the subject, the photographer and the viewer. I felt moved by the idea of two people expressing emotion over the same sight and experiencing the same moment without necessarily being in the same place. Photography is an experience that I want to share with others and create perspectives that can be appreciated as a frozen moment of time.
